Volunteering Opportunities

From time to time there are volunteering opportunities at MVUF for those who would like to help out at the Farm.  These are not opportunities for those seeking training, or who require support.  Rather it is for those who would like to share their skills or knowledge to help staff with the day-to-day duties on the Farm some of which are outlined below.

Garden Team

This team works in the Market Garden and Amenity Garden areas, including the greenhouse and polytunnels, undertaking general gardening, digging, weeding, planting, potting, composting and watering.

Both the time of year and the weather conditions will dictate work requirements on any particular day.

Duties will also include general upkeep of the site including sweeping pathways, painting fences and general tidying.

Occasionally team members may be asked to assist with visits by corporate groups  and sometimes with movement of animals around the Farm.

Education Team

This team provides a range of services including educational visits by groups from local schools and volunteering opportunities will require volunteers to have teaching knowledge and experience.

Educational tours include topics such as Rocks and Soils, Life Cycles, Mini Beasts and Pond Dipping.  Guided Farm tours are offered from time to time by prior arrangement.

Events Team

This is a new team led by our volunteer Events Manager and whilst we seek volunteers with knowledge and experience of events participation, all of our volunteers are welcome to help at the various events throughout the year
