Therapeutic Gardening Project
Gardening project for people with learning difficulties
Here at the Farm we operate a Therapeutic Gardening Project for people with learning difficulties. We provide practical hands-on training and work placements in horticulture.
The Farm grows organic fruit and vegetables and also has large amenity gardens which are maintained by the team. We work as an all inclusive group with young people who are on the Foundation Learning Scheme alongside the adults with learning disabilities. This works well for both groups as it encourages teamwork and cooperation.
The work carried out involves growing from seed a wide selection of fruit, flowers and vegetables. The garden produce is harvested and sold in our farm shop or to local restaurants.
As well as growing produce, the team also works on seasonal projects such as Christmas crafts and wreaths and gifts for special occasions.
